Festival Coordinator.

Are you an organised, detail-oriented, and personable individual, passionate about digital innovation or technology?

We’re looking for someone like you to help deliver Something Digital and Something Fest – Australia’s Digital, Innovation and Technology Festival.

As the Festival Coordinator your creative and project management skills will be put to good use! You will create impactful experiences, ensure every activation runs smoothly and collaborate effectively with the core team.

This is a great opportunity to get stuck into the day-to-day management of a festival, while immersing yourself in the innovation ecosystem. It would suit a ‘problem-solver’ who has 2-3 years of experience in event or festival management within the arts, music, technology or general business sectors.

Our Flagship Events.

Something Digital is a four-day festival designed to strengthen the digital economy. Running since 2018, this annual event has an attendance of around 1000 people each year and is now hosted within various venues in the Bowen Hills precinct including the Tivoli.

In 2022, Something Digital expanded into the Something Fest, through a collaboration with River City Labs, Proptech BNE and the Queensland Government. Something Fest features multiple activations over a week (including Something Digital). The 2023 event welcomed over 3500 attendees, marking it a significant milestone in our expanding portfolio.

The Role

As our Festival Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in delivering these key events in 2024. Working closely with our founders, your involvement will include tasks such as:

  • Venue management
  • Assisting with procurement
  • Liaising with suppliers
  • Setting up and managing all the run sheets
  • Quality checking onsite documents
  • Managing resources effectively (including your own time)
  • Providing general assistance in logistical preparation
  • Onsite event management
  • Preparing and executing The Something School and other side activations
Beyond the Somethings, we also run a number of other major events for a handful of clients. Through this role you will be expected to land a hand to your colleagues as needed (roughly 20%)
Who we are looking for
We are looking for an a festival coordinator ideally with 2-3 years event/festival management experience.

You might hail from a business, events, arts or a theatre background. There is no right answer.

On a practical level, the skills and traits we are after include: 

  • An individual who can balance perfection with time constraints
  • Someone who thrives in a varied role and is not afraid of tackling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • The ability to simplify complex tasks or experiences
  • Clear and consistent communication skills
  • Ability to manage and take control of their personal task list
  • Excellence under pressure and adept at thinking on their feet
  • Speed combined with precision in their work Impeccable attention to detail
  • An ability to work independently and take initiative Sociable, good with people from diverse backgrounds and articulate
  • Proactive & enthusiastic
  • Willingness to get stuck into any task, including tedious ones!
We are a small company with an all-hands-on-deck approach, which means that everyone is expected to pitch in and help with all tasks. A sense of humour and the ability to work with a close-knit team are essential too!

Employment Type: Part-time (3 days per week – with at least 2 days in the office)
